Who
speaks for those who lack political clout?
We do! At Christian Care Communities government relations
is a top priority.
As Kentucky’s largest not-for-profit, faith-based
provider, we stand watch over legislation which may impact
the individuals and groups whom we serve. And, in an age
of limited funds and increasing regulatory oversight, we
must keep a spotlight on the ongoing and increasingly unmet
needs of those we serve.
On the political horizon, questions involving social services
are urgent and profound:
- As America ages, Medicare and Medicaid funding will continue
to feel the squeeze, giving older adults less money to
cover rising living and healthcare costs. What
kind of life can older adults expect in the future, especially
since the over 65 population will double in the next 20
years?
Shaping the Debate
The debate over who receives federal and state funding is
only one area of concern to us. Leaders and program experts
at Christian Care Communities help shape the debate about
healthcare and social services: what kind of services
should be offered, how they should be delivered, who should
qualify, and how new efficiencies and savings can be found?
We can’t do it alone. We need concerned citizens who stay informed
and speak out. Government officials and legislators need to understand the impact
of the decisions they make, and how those decisions directly affect these important
groups of people.
